Anna, Sui’s me in there!
Anna Sui is one of my favorite Ready-to-Wear designers of today. Maybe its her over-the-top bohemian looks that just get me every time. It could be the fact that she is one of the only designers that can gather inspiration from such unique aspects of fashion history and transform them into a look that totally works for the downtown girl. Take the newest collection for instance. She spoke of taking inspiration from paintings of Toulouse-Lautrec, the bohemian spirit at the turn of the century in France, Yves Saint Laurent’s 1976 Russian collection, and her teenage nieces. Her pieces work for Teen Vogue (which at age 24, I still enjoy reading–monthly) and they also work for me. I love pairing an Anna Sui hippiesque skirt with an old t-shirt, and a bunch of jewels. Her clothing goes from day to night in the flip of some heels. Press play and enjoy Anna Sui’s RTW Fall 2009 Collection. Make sure to take note of the headgear, floral dresses, and baggy leggings over tights. Oh and say “Hi!” to Agyness, as she only made a few appearances this 2009 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC.
