so this is interesting.

As I actually don’t do very often at all, I was perusing Daily Mail, this morning when I stubled across this little picture of model, Alice Dellai wearing this outfit shown below to the ICA Figures of Speech party:

Hmm. I cannot lie. I am down with the whole “bikerishchic” look as this is 1/2 my stylecode. However, I have NO idea what this is.  I have nothing else to say except for, “So this is interesting. A bit confusing, but interesting nonetheless.” Take from it what you will. I don’t get it. And while I am posting Alice, I minuswell post this picture of Pixie Geldof–who (I should add) is my more favorite of the two Geldof messes.  This get up by date to the event, Henry Holland,  is pretty alright in my opinion.  When she doubles the outfit, she doesn’t look half bad. Your thoughts…Pixie Geldof

This whole normal-people turned model trend doesn’t sit quite right with me. I know designers are allowed to have friends, but models have one job and one job only (although as of late they feel they’re qualified to design, dj, whatever else is of-the-moment. gimme a break.) and that is to maintain the physique of a clothes hanger and maneuver in 6 inch heels. So why are daughters of used-to-be-famous rockstars/daughters of wealthy hoteliers who have sex tapes/girls who are slightly recognizeable for blogging & drinking heavily turning up on the runway? I don’t want to see a “normal” girl at Fashion Week. I’m sorry, I just don’t. Style-spotting blogs are one thing, but part of the fun of fashion shows is that the whole atmosphere is just surreal. Music, sets, flashbulbs, high society in the front row…..and MODELS. REAL ones, like Coco Rocha, Caroline Trentini, Lily Cole, or Chanel Iman. There is a time and place for the .00001% of the population that can be 5’10″, 110 lbs, with legs for miles, and a face worthy of a painting. and that is on the runway! So I don’t want so-called “normal” girls taking over my fashion shows. The latest is Pixie Geldof. as in daughter of Bob and sister of Peaches. GET HER OUT OF HERE. She’s got the kinda Agyness rip off haircut and has already been on the cover of Italian Vogue…but why?! God knows the Brits hold tight to their “celebrities” (they are still talking about Kate & Pete…why?), so while i think it may be too late already, i can dream and hope and wish that she just won’t catch on as a “fashion icon”. Ugh, just vote nooo to Pixie. NO NO NO!

Hopefully my rant didn’t sway you too much, but what are your thoughts? I know she’s not horrendous looking, but I’m not out of line by boycotting her right?

xx,

Lisa
